The Placement Service attended the Kiine Girls Career Fair, that was held on June 11, 2016 in Kirinyaga County. The function kicked off at 9:00 am. The head of the Kiine Girls Careers Department, proceeded to introduce the guests from various institutions to the students and teachers who had assembled on the school grounds.
Ms Mercy, from EduWorld, took the students through exploring careers, career choices and trends in the job market.
Ms Purity Mayaka, the ICT Manager of the Placement Service, gave a background of the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service . Among other things, she engaged the attentive students on various issues concerning placement such as subject selection and the implications on the clusters and programme choices, clusters of subjects and minimum entry requirements, affirmative action criteria, the online application process, the placement processing and the opportunities for training in TVETs.
Ms Margaret Adura of the Placement Service also guided students on how to make proper course selection, the importance of selecting courses one has a passion for and that they meet the minimum admission criteria.
In the afternoon session, students actively engaged the Placement Service officers in the tent on further issues they had concerning placement.
