Career Guidance
Our Career Guidance Programmes
The Placement Service is mandated to develop career guidance programmes for the benefit of students. To realize this, KUCCPS has developed a career guidance outreach programme, whereby we send officers to schools to speak to students about career selection.
KUCCPS offers career guidance for both degree and diploma programmes. Through guidance and mentorship programmes, students are empowered to make informed choices regarding their future career prospects. Our career guidance programmes include:
- Career Guidance in Schools
KUCCPS offers career talks and guidance services during secondary school career/education days. Interested schools are required to send official invitation letters to KUCCPS in good time. The service is offered free of charge subject to convenience of the career day dates.
b. University/College Open Days
Universities and colleges organise Open Days in collaboration with KUCCPS. At these events, KUCCPS may pitch at tent for provision of career guidance and dissemination of information on careers.
c. Shows, Exhibitions and Career Fairs
KUCCPS participates in various shows, exhibitions and fairs to reach students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders with its services. These include the annual Agricultural Society of Kenya shows and county/constituency career fairs.
d. Career Teacher Sensitisation and Capacity Building
Capacity building of teachers responsible for career guidance in secondary schools is an important programme by KUCCPS. It involves working with the Ministry of Education, Teachers Service Commission, Kenya Secondary School Heads Association and other stakeholders to mobilise the teachers and take them through a sensitisation programme on matters relating to career guidance for students.
e. Parental Engagement Programme
KUCCPS also organises sensitisation sessions targeting parents or guardians of secondary school students. The aim is to provide them with the right information to enable them support and guide their children adequately as they make their career-related decisions.
