MPs Commend Placement Service for Sound Corporate Governance
Nairobi, October 7, 2025 – The National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Education has hailed Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) for prudent management of public resources and sound corporate governance.
Speaking during an oversight visit to KUCCPS today, the Committee’s Members led by its Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Eve Obara, commended the Placement Service Board for consistently getting clean audit reports from the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG). They also congratulated KUCCPS for registering excellent performance following assessment by the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC), which monitors corporate governance issues in government agencies.
According to the legislators, KUCCPS is among a few public institutions with clean audit opinion from the OAG, making it stand out in the public service for high level of compliance with the law, prudence in management of public resources and service delivery.
During the visit, KUCCPS Board Chairman Cyrus Gituai and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome highlighted the institution’s performance against its mandate focusing on operations, governance and finances. They proposed enactment of a stand-alone law to strengthen KUCCPS and enable it to expand its mandate in line with emerging needs in higher education and training. The Parliamentary Committee has been conducting a series of visits to Government Agencies in the Ministry of Education in exercise of its oversight mandate.
