KUCCPS Takes Career Sensitisation to Taita-Taveta County

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) took its career sensitisation campaign to Taita-Taveta County from January 4 to 8, 2019, on invitation by the county’s Ministry of Education and Libraries.

In a series of career sensitisation forums, KUCCPS officers interacted with the residents of Wundanyi, Taveta, Mwatate and Voi sub-counties, guiding them on the processes and procedures for student placement to universities and other tertiary institutions.

Timbila High School Career Day 2018

On May 6, 2018, the Placement Service team was at Timbila High School, Taita-Taveta County, for student career guidance and mentorship. The main objective was to create awareness on the functions of the Placement Service, educate the students on career choices and sensitise their teachers on the current career trends and empower them to provide effective career guidance to the learners.

St. Mary’s High School Lushangonyi Career Mentorship and Teacher Sensitisation Forum 2018

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service continues with the student career guidance and teacher sensitisation programme countrywide.

St. Mary’s High School Lushangonyi in Taita-Taveta County hosted the forum on May 5, 2018, where students got an opportunity to learn about available training opportunities in Kenyan universities and colleges.

Akili Dada Career Symposium 2018

Akili Dada, an international non-profit involved in the empowerment of girls and young women social entrepreneurs, held a career symposium on March 10, 2018 at Riara University in Nairobi. The symposium is an annual one-day event that exposes girls to different career tracks and educational opportunities in Kenya and beyond.

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service partnered with Akili Dada in the career symposium, for the second time, having participated for the first time in 2017.

Murang’a University of Technology Career Day 2018

The Placement Service participated in the Murang’a University of Technology Career Day on March 24, 2018. The event was attended by the Murang’a University staff, Co-operative Bank officials and seven secondary schools invited from Murang’a County.

The career forum was organised to give students a chance to interact with the university staff, receive career guidance and apply for courses offered by the institutions, while the Placement Service was invited to provide career guidance.

Eldoret ASK Show 2018

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service has, for the first time, participated in the Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) Show in Eldoret. The show took place from March 10 to 14, 2018 at the Eldoret ASK grounds.

The turnout was incredible; with throngs of secondary school students, parents and other stakeholders visiting the Placement Service stand for enquiries.

Karatina University Career Week 2017

 

The Placement Service took part in the Karatina University Career Week that was held from May 3 to 5, 2017 at the institution’s main campus in Nyeri County.  The Placement Service was represented by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John Muraguri, accompanied by other officers. The event was attended by students from seven secondary schools.

The KUCCPS team delivered talks on career choice and opportunities, and answered students’ questions during interactions at the Placement Service stand.

Nyakach Girls Career Day

On 6th, August 2016 the placement service staff led by Purity Mayaka and Immaculate Nato visited Nyakach Girls High School which is located in Kisumu county (Nyakach Constituency) for a career function. Purity Mayaka did a presentation on the functions, application process and the weighted cluster points. We later engaged with the students in the afternoon where they were able to ask questions and seek clarifications on some of the issues regarding the application process.

St. Francis Girls High School – Mang’u Career Fair

St. Francis Girls High School in Mang’u was started as a boarding intermediate school for girls in 1944 and named after the patron saint of the Congregation of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa (FMSA). The congregation founded the school as part of its evangelistic mission in Mang’u.  The school is located at Mang’u, a few kilometers off the Nairobi-Thika super highway.

Kiine Girls Career Fair

The Placement Service attended the Kiine Girls Career Fair, that was held on June 11, 2016 in Kirinyaga County. The function kicked off at 9:00 am. The head of the Kiine Girls Careers Department, proceeded to introduce the guests from various institutions to the students and teachers who had assembled on the school grounds.

Ms Mercy, from EduWorld, took the students through exploring careers, career choices and trends in the job market.
